Sequoia L. Young, MS, CIP, CIM serves as the Manager of Clinical Trials & Research Operations at The Valley Hospital. Sequoia joined Valley in 2018 as the Human Research Protection Program Supervisor. Under Sequoia’s leadership, Valley has maintained its accreditation with the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, Inc, (AAHRPP). Valley was the first program in the State of New Jersey to receive this accreditation and remains only one of three accredited research programs in the state.
As a clinial research professional for over 15 years, Sequoia has served in multiple research positions, including overseeing regulatory and research compliance, which began at a large academic medical center in New Jersey. With gained knowledge, experience and finding purpose in her calling, Sequoia is committed to establishing community research partnerships with a focus to "Engage, Educate, and Empower". Most recently, in partnership with a local community college and Valley, Sequoia moderated, The Life and Legacy of Henrietta Lacks: A 21st Century Call to Action event, which included a Q & A session with the grandchildren of Henrietta Lacks and nearly 200 attendees (in-person).
Sequoia earned her Bachelor of Arts from William Paterson University, and completed her Master of Science in Clinical Trials Management at Thomas Edison State University. She holds a certification for IRB professionals from PRIM&R (CIP) and is a certified IRB Manager (CIM).
