Dr. Crystal Johnson, DVM, MPH, DACLAM, is the Director and Attending Veterinarian of the Division of Comparative Medicine at Georgetown University. She is a graduate of Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine and a Diplomat of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine. Dr. Johnson serves on several committees within the Georgetown University Institution as well as a leader within the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) and the Association of Primate Veterinarians (APV). As the Chair of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee for the Association of Primate Veterinarians, Dr. Johnson has been at the forefront of creating opportunities for conversation through breakout sessions, seminars, and workshops. Her interest and passion support creating an environment within biomedical research that advocates for both animal and human welfare while embodying a diverse and inclusive culture at the forefront of research discoveries that are rigorous and reproducible yet involve sustained enrichment for all.
