Terry J. M. Powell has been a member of the Alaska Area IRB since 1994, and she retired as director of the IRB in July 2023. Terry continues to serve as an active member of the IRB. Mrs. Powell is the daughter of Bob and Esther Mulcahy, the eldest of five children, and a lifelong Alaskan. She was born in Cordova, AK, and grew up in Bethel and Kodiak, AK. She is a graduate of the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She is a member of the Chugach Alaska Corporation and an enrolled member of the Eyak Tribe. Her interests include research ethics, tribal healthcare research, bioethics, and fishing. Mrs. Powell has been married to her college sweetheart, John, for 44 years, and she is the proud mother of two adult children and four Alaskan grandsons. Every July you will find Terry fishing for salmon on the Kenai River and hosting fishcamp with her family.
