This session will be offered in-person and recorded for on-demand access by in-person PRIMR23 attendees registered for this day, and PRIMR23/SBER23 Virtual Meeting registrants.

Approval times for IRB and IACUC proposals depend on several factors, including but not limited to submission quality and completeness, local institutional procedures and processes, reviewer subjectivity, and investigator response time. The session will discuss using data-driven approaches to guide IRB and IACUC process improvement with an overall goal of reducing submission approval times.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the usefulness of data in measuring IRB and IACUC effectiveness and addressing investigator and institutional concerns
  • Discuss a novel, data-oriented approach to measuring and quantifying IRB submission quality
  • Discuss ways data can be used to drive operational change and improve submission approval times
