This session is being held in-person only at PRIMR23. It will not be recorded for on-demand access or for the PRIMR23/SBER23 Virtual Meeting.

This session will include discussion of outreach methods that build a culture of collaboration. Investing in relationships extending beyond official IACUC business can not only improve compliance and welfare, but also promote a culture of diversity, inclusion, and good animal welfare. The panelists will discuss collaborative opportunities such and how to provide methods on gaining and encouraging buy in from researchers on techniques on animal welfare and refinement . It will also discuss ways to customize approaches to solve issues with PIs and prevent future issues by making relationships more mutually productive.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop methods for IACUCs to build positive relationships with PIs extending beyond protocol modifications and correction of noncompliance
  • Discuss collaborative opportunities such as employing PIs for training and promoting refinement.
  • Learn how to promote a culture of diversity and inclusion for personnel and good animal welfare for research animals
