Dr. Elizabeth Falendysz is the Attending Veterinarian at the USGS National Wildlife Health Center (NWHC). Dr. Falendysz is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, with an additional certificate in global health. Dr. Falendysz has been Attending Veterinarian at the NWHC since 2014. She oversees animal welfare for wild animals used in captive and field research. She is the veterinarian for the NWHC IACUC, as well as the primary clinical veterinarian for captive animals housed in the BSL-3 vivarium. Research at the NWHC focuses on infectious and toxic diseases affecting free-ranging wildlife. Dr. Falendysz also collaborates on research on White Nose Syndrome, Monkeypox virus, and SARS CoV-2 and has a particular love for bats and rodents.
