Washington State Veterinary Medical Association

Seattle, WA
In October 2023, Ken Gordon commenced as the Incoming CEO of the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association.
Prior to joining WSVMA Ken led the Northwest Association for Biomedical Research for ten years. He led the charge of a renewed focus on implementation of member services, public and youth education programs, and expansion of network and outreach efforts. Ken brought leadership and strategic vision to NWABR’s mission to strengthen public trust in biomedical research and its ethical conduct.
With post graduate qualifications focusing on finance and public policy, he adds non-profit studies from both Harvard and Stanford Graduate Schools of Business.
During his career he has been a Youth Worker, a Strategic Planning Manager, CEO of a large community foundation, Executive Director of a Native American foundation, owner of a consulting, and his most recent role at NWABR. Gordon has also taught Governance as an adjunct faculty member at Seattle University.
A native of New Zealand, Ken has a cultural bias for helping small organizations have an impact that belie their size. As a marathon runner and triathlete, he believes that even the biggest projects can be successful taken one step at a time. Ken has served on two IACUC Committees, most recently joining the University of Washington IACUC in January 2019. He also joined the Benaroya Research Institute IBC Committee in 2021 and is a member of the USARO steering committee. Outside of these roles Ken has also been a Board Member of the Chief Seattle Club, a non-profit that focuses on housing and other services for indigenous communities for 14 years.
