Lisa R. Buchanan, MAOM, CIP - Director, Division of Compliance Oversight, Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP), Department of Health and Human Services, Rockville, Maryland. Ms. Buchanan investigates allegations of noncompliance with HHS regulations for the protection of human research subjects. She has 30 years of experience in the human subjects protections field; specifically, in areas of regulatory compliance, IRB operations and regulatory training. Before joining OHRP in 2008, she was Director of Operations for Chesapeake Research Review (now ADVARRA), an independent IRB based in Columbia, Maryland. She has held human research protections leadership positions at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) intramural IRB, George Washington University, and the National Cancer Institute’s – Central IRB.
