Piper Hawkins-Green, MS, CIP; Associate Director, IRB Compliance and Reliance
Piper Hawkins-Green is the Associate Director of IRB Compliance and Reliance at Northwestern University. In her current role, she oversees the compliance, education, risk management, and quality initiatives of the IRB Office/Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) and the workflows of the Compliance and Reliance units. Piper also assists in developing the IRB Office/HRPP strategic plan and fiscal management. Regularly engaging with the Office for Research and HRPP Leadership, IRB Chairs, institutional affiliates, and research community members, Piper aims to build solid relationships while strengthening the operational efficiency and regulatory compliance of the institution she serves.
Piper is a Certified IRB Professional with over 17 years of regulatory and research compliance experience. She strives to increase the effectiveness of the University’s HRPP by providing the research community with the educational resources, guidance, and support needed to ensure the conduct of compliant research.
Piper holds a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also has an M.S. in Regulatory Compliance, focusing on clinical research, from Northwestern University. Lastly, Piper has been a Certified IRB Professional (CIP) since 2008.
