Ribu Goyal is an Institutional Review Board (IRB) specialist at Mayo Clinic, where she also serves as a voting member (ad-hoc) on the Institutional Review Boards in a scientific capacity. She is a human geneticist by training and holds two Master of Science degrees - one in Biomedical Genetics from Tamil Nadu, India, and the other in Medical Sciences from the University of Kentucky. Previously, she worked as an adjunct faculty at Kentucky's flagship community college, where she taught Human Anatomy and Physiology to pre-health majors. She also gained experience in the legal and regulatory field while working at the international office of the University of Kentucky. Before her role at Mayo IRB, Ribu conducted several pre-clinical (cell and animal models) and clinical research projects in cytogenetics, pediatrics, muscle biology, oncology, cardiology, and molecular imaging, and published her findings in high-impact scientific journals. Apart from her work, Ribu is passionate about community service and STEM outreach activities. She is presenting for the first time at the national Public Responsibility in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R) conference and is excited to establish meaningful collaborations within the ethics community.
