Carol Juliet Weil, JD, is an independent consultant working at the crossroads of human research participant protection, Bioethics, and science policy. Previously, she served as a program director for ethical and regulatory affairs at the National Cancer Institute, and a compliance oversight coordinator at the US Office for Human Research Protections. She has over 20 years of experience working on the ethical, regulatory and social implications of biomedical research, with a focus on on community engagement, consent and data sharing strategies, and bio-banking. She currently chairs the Community Engagement Task Force for ISBER, the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories, is a Deputy Editor for the Journal "Biopreservation and Biobanking", and serves as a member of North Star Review Board, an independent, nonprofit learning Research Ethics Review Board established in 2020.
