Natalie L. Mays serves as the Director of the Division of IACUC and IBC Administration at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine/NYU Langone Health. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in microbiology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Natalie has extensive experience in various roles related to biomedical research at multiple Northeast Ohio academic research institutions, including Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic. She holds AALAS certification at the LATG level and is a graduate of AALAS’ Institute for Laboratory Animal Management.
Before joining NYU in 2010, Natalie was the IACUC Director at Columbia University/Columbia University Medical Center, where she achieved PRIM&R’s CPIA certification. Her professional engagements include serving on multiple IACUCs and IBCs, being a charter member of PRIM&R’s Diversity Advisory Group as well as their Animal Care and Use Advisory Group. She also served as Co-Chair of PRIM&R’s Annual IACUC conferences from 2016 to 2018. Natalie was a member of PRIM&R’s Board of Directors from 2016 to 2021 serving as the Chair in 2020. Natalie was appointed to the NYU Langone Health’s Black Employee Resource Group in 2020. This committee is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment. This group empowers Black employees and their allies at NYU Langone Health through mentorship, support, recruitment and retention efforts, and professional development initiatives.
In 2023, Natalie was honored to be a member of the search committee tasked to identify PRIM&R's new Executive Director, Dr. Ivy Tillman.
