Dr. Atasi Poddar is a Health Science Policy Analyst in the Office of Medical Policy within the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research of the Food and Drug Administration. The Office of Medical Policy provides scientific and regulatory leadership in the development of medical policies and procedures pertaining to drug development, drug approval, human subject protection, the science and efficiency of clinical trials. Dr. Poddar works on policy development in the areas of Expanded Access, Breakthrough Therapy Designation, charging for investigational drugs, diversity in clinical trials, data monitoring committee, COVID-19 related drug shortage and other topics. She been with FDA for over 10 years. Prior to joining CDER she worked at the Center for Tobacco Products. She was involved in the development of premarket review program for tobacco products. Dr. Poddar completed her postdoctoral fellowships at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, University of Virginia and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health. She received her Ph.D. in molecular biology and genetics.
