Ruth McKeogh, recognized for expertise in academic programs and human subjects research, serves as Director at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). Her association with WPI's global projects program began in 2003. The program sends third-year students to nearly 50 project centers worldwide to complete an Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP), intersecting society, technology, and science.
In 2019, Ruth assumed the role of Manager at the WPI Institutional Review Board (IRB), enhancing her involvement with the board both in operations and as a member. Her managerial duties include conducting thorough reviews of research from various campus departments to ensure ethical and procedural compliance.
Additionally, Ruth manages a faculty-led course that focuses on social science research methods, crucial for preparing students for their IQP by grounding them in research methodologies. In a noteworthy achievement, Ruth, along with a team of colleagues, secured an internal grant titled "Integrating IRB and Ethics Pedagogy for Emergent and Applied Research Areas."
