Kathryn V. Blake, PharmD, is the Director of the Center for Pharmacogenomics and Translational Research, and Chair of IRB 2. She is a principal research scientist for Nemours Children’s Health. She received her BS in Zoology from the University of North Carolina and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Florida. She is board-certified in Pharmacotherapy and is a fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy.
Her research interests are in pediatric asthma, devices used in clinical trials, and pharmacogenomics. She has been a PI since 1999 for the American Lung Association Airways Clinical Research Centers network, the NIH-funded AsthmaNet from 2015 to 2017, and the IGNITE (site PI, Implementing Genomics in Practice) network since 2015. She is the Director of the American Lung Association Biorepository housed at the Nemours Delaware facility. This biorepository will house 500,000 specimens collected by the NIH-funded Lung Health Cohort Study conducted by the American Lung Association Airways Clinical Research Centers network. She has been a PI or co-I on over 100 clinical trials. Dr. Blake has received funding from NIH for a K23 award in asthma pharmacogenomics and two R01 for studies of asthma adherence and streamlining pediatric clinical trials.
She has served on several federal committees. From 2018 to 2020, she served on the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Working Group, a Federal Advisory Committee, to update the existing Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma. She is currently an NIH-appointed member of the Interdisciplinary Clinical Care in Specialty Care Settings Study Section of the NIH Center for Scientific Review. Dr. Blake has over 140 publications in the areas of pediatric asthma and pharmacogenomics and 10 book chapters on asthma.
