LaToya Lewis, MS, MT(ASCP), CCEP, CCRP, serves as the Health Scientist Compliance Officer at the Office of Research Integrity (ORI), Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). In her role as the Compliance Officer, she is responsible for applying health science and research expertise to design, develop, and implement surveillance and compliance efforts consistent with the delegated authority of the Office of Research Integrity (ORI). She also conducts policy analyses and derives outcome assessments that inform and modernize ORI's approach to scientific compliance and identifies opportunities for potential regulatory or procedural changes. LaToya is a certified clinical research and ethics professional with over 16 years combined experience in conducting research and research compliance regulatory assessments. She is also a certified Medical Technologist and has collaborated with other researchers in the development, characterization, and validation of new cancer biomarkers using innovative medical technologies (e.g., Gene Methylation assays, SBT, ELISA, Western Blots, RT PCR, Q-RTPCR, micro-RNA, and Microarray technologies, etc.). LaToya has a Bachelor of Science Degree (B.Sc.) in Medical Technology from Morgan State University, a Master of Science Degree (M.S.) in Biotechnology Regulatory Affairs from Johns Hopkins, and an associate degree (AS) in Agriculture, Agriculture Operations, and Animal Science from the Eastern Caribbean Institute of Agriculture and Forestry.
