Neal W. Dickert, Jr., MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Medicine and the Thomas R. Williams Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine. He holds a secondary appointment in the Department of Epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health and is a Senior Faculty Fellow at the Emory Center for Ethics. Dr. Dickert is a board-certified cardiologist and PhD-trained bioethicist. His an attending physician in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and echocardiography lab at Emory University Hospital. Dr. Dickert is also Interim Director of the Emory Health Services Research Center and directs the Network Capacity Core of the Georgia Clinical and Translational Science Alliance. Dr. Dickert is an alumnus of the Greenwall Faculty Scholars in Bioethics Program and a past recipient of the Pillars of PRIM&R award. He has received research funding from NIH institutes, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the Greenwall Foundation. He has an active portfolio of ethics research focusing on ethical and regulatory aspects of clinical trials in acute care, ethical dimensions of research recruitment, and processes of shared decision-making. Dr. Dickert serves on multiple Data Safety and Monitoring Committees, has been a contributor to advisory panels for federal and subspecialty policy initiatives, and is a current member of SACHRP.
