This session will be offered in-person and recorded for on-demand access by in-person SBER23 registrants, and PRIMR23/SBER23 Virtual Meeting registrants.

The political landscape at the local, state, and federal levels is impacting research in new ways. Legislation on topics such as critical race theory, abortion, and research on guns have a direct effect on the research landscape. This session will discuss the reverberations of legislative changes on research portfolios, IRB reviews, and HRPPs.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the impact of legislation on research and HRPPs
  • Explore experiences of HRPPs grappling with these issues
  • Consider practices for HRPPs to prepare for managing legislative repercussions in research landscape
