CIRTification is a free online human protections training program designed for community research partners. CIRTification equips community research partners with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complexities of human research protections. By engaging in this interactive and role-specific training, community research partners gain a deep understanding of their responsibilities, enabling them to actively contribute to the research. The online training program: • Introduces learners to the basics of the research – the terminology, the people, and the methods • Reviews the history of research abuses that has informed the ethical principles, rules, and regulations that we now have • Covers standards and best practices for o Recruitment and informed consent o Collecting and protecting data o Handling challenges that may arise during participant interactions • Reviews the role of the institutional review board in protecting the right and safety of research participants CIRTification Online includes audio, text, video, and interactive activities. Learners complete a knowledge quiz at the end of the program and receive a date-stamped certificate of completion. The program takes about 4 hours and can be completed in multiple sessions. CIRTification Online also includes a dictionary of research terms and a toolbox with resources related to human research protections that is accessible during and after completion.
